BANDIT INN (FOOD SERVICE)

Preparing and serving food, washing dishes, bussing tables, and running the cash registers, BH Services Inc. Serves our military customers at the Bandit Inn at Ellsworth Air Force Base (Rapid City, SD).

SUPPLY STORE

BH Services took over the operation of the Ellsworth Supply Store on October 1, 1996. The store provides mission-essential merchandise including uniforms, boots, related gear, as well as office supplies, paper products and cleaning supplies. Sales are limited to military and federal employees.

 COMMISSARY OPERATIONS

Since 1989, BH Services Inc. has provided shelf stocking, custodial service, warehousing, day stocking and meat room services at Ellsworth Air Force Base Commissary in Rapid City, SD.

CUSTODIAL SERVICES

BH Services Inc. delivers exceptional custodial care to the military, federal government, and local commercial agencies.

EAFB JANITORIAL: In 1981, the Ellsworth Air Force Base Operational Contracting Division became one of the first air bases to contract with a rehabilitation facility. The contract marked a turning point across the country; it was the first time people with severe disabilities performed services within high security areas. Today BH Services provides custodial services to over 30 buildings at Ellsworth.

COMMUNITY CUSTODIAL: BH Services custodial crews also provide cleaning services to nearly 50 local businesses. The services provided range from daily services for State and City facilities to once weekly services for independent businesses. The tasks performed by the custodial crews include carpet and upholstery cleaning as well as hard floor care and general cleaning. The development of the community custodial program is an ongoing process with BH Services always looking for additional sites to employ custodial crews. RAPID CITY FEDERAL BUILDING: On April 1, 2006, BH Services took over a new contract at the Rapid City Federal Building providing custodial services to all four floors of the building.

THE OFFICIAL MAIL CENTER

Our newest federal contract!  On May 11, 2009, BH Services, Inc. assumed responsibility for the official mail processing at Ellsworth Air Force Base.  The Official Mail Center provides United States Postal Service (USPS) capability for the 28th Bomb Wing, Air Force Financial Service Center and multiple tenant units, totaling 36 agencies.  Each day our staff receives, sorts, scans, and delivers incoming official mail and picks up, applies postage to, and sends outgoing mail through the local post office in support of the Ellsworth mission.  Our staff is fully trained and capable of handling all classes of USPS mail.

  • Operating Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Providing employment opportunities in full and part time capacities for 3 individuals with disabilities and 2 staff members.
  • This dynamic position requires persons servied to be able to add, read, write and drive a delivery vehicle.
  • Persons served have daily face-to-face contact with customers and provide answers to postal questions over the phone.
  • Employees must be able to lift up to 70 pounds and perform duties on their feet for several hours at a time.

SWITCHBOARD OPERATIONS

Since April 1, 2000, BH Services has been responsible for routing incoming and outgoing calls twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

  • Operating 24 Hours/Day, 7 days/week, 365 days/year.
  • Processing an average of 8,000 calls per week.
  • Providing global DSN Telecommunication service to Government Personnel for Official and Morale Purposes.

 

For people with disabilities, overcoming prejudice in the workplace has been an ongoing challenge. In 1938, the federal government began to confront this problem when President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Wagner-O'Day Act. This groundbreaking effort ultimately evolved into what is now the AbilityOne Program, formerly the Jarvits-Wagner-O'Day Program (JWOD).
